Video Transcript

Use the number line to complete the following sentence: 15 take away the missing number equals six.

We can use a number line to help us find the answer. The arrow shows that we should start at 15 and count back until we get to six. The question is asking us to count back from 15 to six and to find out how many jumps we need to make.

So we can start at 15 and count back until we reach six: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. We had to count back nine to get from 15 to six on the number line. The missing number is number nine. 15 take away nine equals six.
