15 percent multiplied by 1000 equals what?

The question is asking us to find 15 percent of 1000. To find 15 percent, we could find 10 percent and five percent and add them together. Each of the orange blocks represents 10 percent. We’ve taken a 1000 and divided it into 10 equal parts. 1000 divided by 10 equals 100. Each part is worth 100.

To find five percent, we need to divide 10 percent by two, which is the same as saying half of 10 percent. Half of 100 is 50 or 100 divided by two is 50. Now, we can add 10 percent and five percent to find 15 percent. 100 plus 50 is 150.

To find 15 percent of 1000, first we found 10 percent by dividing 1000 by 10. Next, we found five percent by dividing 10 percent by two. Then, we added these two totals, 10 percent and five percent together, to find 15 percent, which gave us our answer of 150.
