This missing number is equal to 435 take away 30. We need to subtract 30 or three tens from 435. 435 also has three tens. We could partition 435 into 400, 30, and five. So we can just take away the 30.

The only digit which will change is the tens digit. So we still have four hundreds. We have no tens now because we took away 30 or three tens. And we didn’t take away any ones, so we’re still left with five ones. 435 take away 30 or three tens is 405. 405 is equal to 435 take away 30.
