Nine multiplied by 41 equals what?

We could partition 41 into four tens or 40 plus one. Then, we can calculate nine times 40 and nine times one and add these two totals together to tell us what nine times 41 is. We know that nine times four is 36. So nine times 40 is 10 times greater, 360. Nine times one is nine. 360 plus nine is 369. So nine times 41 is 369.

To calculate the answer, we used partitioning. We partitioned 41 into 40 and one and then multiplied each part, to give us the answer 369. Another easy way to calculate the answer would be to multiply 41 by 10 and then adjust by subtracting 41.

Both methods give us the same answer of 369.
