We know that the vehicle uses 856.7 liters of petrol to travel 1000 kilometers. We’re asked to work out how many liters of petrol will be used on a journey of 100 kilometers. 100 is 10 times smaller than 1000. 1000 divided by 10 is 100. So, to find out how many liters of petrol the vehicle will use in a journey of 100 kilometers, we can divide 856.7 by 10.

To divide 856.7 by 10, we need to shift the decimal place one place to the left. 856.7 divided by 10 equals 85.67. If a vehicle uses 856.7 liters of petrol to travel 1000 kilometers, it will use 85.67 liters of petrol on a journey of 100 kilometers. 856.7 divided by 10 is 85.67 liters.
