Determine the median of the following: two, seven, nine.

When a set of numbers are placed in value order, the median value is the value in the middle. We are given the numbers two, seven, and nine. Are these numbers in value order? That means are they listed in least to greatest or greatest to least?

Two, seven, nine is listed from least to greatest, so they are in value order. To find the median value, we need to look and see which value is in the middle. Since they’re only three values, the seven is very clearly the middle. Thus, the seven is our median.
