Fill in the missing value. Three and three-quarter days plus 240 minutes equals blank hours.
We know that there are 24 hours in one day. There are 60 minutes in one hour. We could calculate the number of hours in three and three-quarter days by multiplying 24 by three and three-quarters. As this is quite a complicated calculation, we’ll, firstly, work out the number of hours in three days. 24 multiplied by three is equal to 72, as 20 multiplied by three is 60, and four multiplied by three is 12. One-quarter of 24 is six. Therefore, there’re six hours in one-quarter of a day. Multiplying this by three gives us 18 hours in three-quarters of a day.
We can now work out the number of hours in three and three-quarter days by adding 72 and 18. This is equal to 90 hours. 60 multiplied by four is equal to 240. This means that 240 minutes is the same as four hours. Our final step is to add 90 hours and four hours.
Three and three-quarter days plus 240 minutes is equal to 94 hours. Therefore, the missing number is 94.
