We can line these values up stacking them on top of each other vertically, making sure the ones units line up and the tens units line up.

And then we subtract four minus one, which equals three. We move to the tens place and then we say two minus one equals one.

24 minus 11 equals 13. Another way, we could think about this is by separating 11 into two different groups. We know that 11 is equal to 10 plus one.

So we can say 24 minus 10 equals 14. And then we can take that 14 and subtract one, which equals 13. Regrouping is another way to solve 24 minus 11 equals 13.
