One school vaccinated 2003 students and another school vaccinated 3257 students. How many students were vaccinated?

We know that 2003 students were vaccinated in one school and 3257 in another. To find the total number of students vaccinated, we need to add these two numbers together, 2003 plus 3257.

Let’s start by adding in the ones column. We have three ones plus seven ones. Three plus seven is 10. So, we need to exchange our ten ones for one ten in the tens column. Next, we need to add in the tens column. Zero and five is five, plus the one we exchanged gives us a total of six.

In the hundreds column, we have no hundreds plus two hundreds, which gives us a total of two in the hundreds column. Finally, we need to add in the thousands column, two plus three is five. So, we have a total of five thousands. 2003 plus 3257 equals 5260. Altogether, 5260 students were vaccinated.
