Which picture shows the number 15?

We’re looking for the picture which shows 15 counters. This is a ten frame. And it’s full of counters, which means there are 10 counters. And there are four more counters. Let’s start at 10, one, two, three, four. 10 and four more is 14. The second picture has a number which is made from one ten and one, two, three, four, five more. What number is five more than 10? Let’s count forward five from 10 to find out. One, two, three, four, five. 10 and five more makes 15. This is the number we’re looking for.

Let’s check how many counters there are in the last picture. We know there are 10 in the ten frame. And there are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven more. Seven more than 10 is one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, 17. 10 and seven more is 17. The picture which shows the number 15 is the one in the middle. 10 and five more makes 15.
