Which of the following numbers add up to 60? 40 and 20, 30 and 20, 50 and 20, 30 and 40, or 40 and 40.
To help answer this question, you could use tens blocks. Here, we have six tens blocks, which makes 60: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60.
To find out if 40 and 20 make 60, we could group the tens blocks into a group of 40 and a group of 20. Here, we have 10, 20, 30, 40 and here we have 10, 20.
So the numbers which add up to 60 are 40 and 20.
