We can model our answer using counters. How many counters will we need to represent each of the bees? The question tells us there are four bees. So we will need four counters: one, two, three, four.
And the question tells us that two of the bees flew away. So we can take away two of the counters: one, two. How many bees are left or how many counters do we have left? There are two. There were four bees, two flew away, and two were left.
