Tick the shape that does not have a line of symmetry.

We’re looking for the shape that doesn’t have a line of symmetry. The heart has a line of symmetry. A line of symmetry is like a mirror line. It divides the shape in half and each half is the same shape. So we don’t need to tick the heart because it does have a line of symmetry. The shield has a line of symmetry and so does the gingerbread man. We can draw a line to cut the gingerbread man in half. And each half is exactly the same shape. The star has a line of symmetry.

What about the house? The line cuts the house in half. But are both sides exactly the same shape? No, they’re not. This half has a chimney. But this half doesn’t. So there is no line of symmetry in the house. So we need to tick the house because we’re looking for the shape that doesn’t have a line of symmetry.

The house is not a symmetrical shape. It doesn’t have a line of symmetry. All of the other shapes do. The house is the shape that does not have a line of symmetry.
