What is the probability of rolling a number smaller than three on a regular dice?

We begin by recalling that the probability of an event is the likelihood or chance of that event occurring. One way of calculating the probability of an event is to divide the number of successful outcomes by the total number of possible outcomes. In this question, we are asked to consider a regular dice. We know that this is in the shape of a cube and has the numbers from one to six on each of its faces. We are trying to find the probability that we roll a number smaller than three.

The successful outcomes in this case are the numbers one and two. The probability of rolling a number smaller than three is therefore equal to two out of six.
