One-quarter divided by two equals what?

This circle has been divided into four equal parts or quarters. If we divide each quarter into two equal parts, the circle is now divided into eight. So one-quarter divided by two equals one-eighth.

Dividing by two is the same as finding a half. So we could say that we calculated a quarter multiplied by a half. This is a much easier calculation. When we’re multiplying fractions, we multiply the numerators first. One times one is one. Now, we multiply the denominator. Four times two is eight.

One-quarter divided by two equals one-eighth.
