Natalie has a shelf full of story books. How many books does she have? She counts them from left to right. When she gets to the book the arrow is pointing at, what number does she say?
This is a two-part question. The first part of the question asks us how many books Natalie has. Let’s count them. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. Natalie has 15 books.
We know that Natalie is counting the books from left to right. We have to work out which number she would say when she reaches the book that the arrow is pointing to. One, two, three, four, five, six. When she reaches this book, Natalie should say number six.
The answer to the first part of the question is 15. Natalie has 15 books. We counted them all from left to right. And if Natalie is counting from left to right, when she reaches the book that the orange arrow is pointing to, she should say number six.
