Nine multiplied by 10 equals what?

Whenever we see the multiplication sign in the calculation, we can think about groups. The question is asking us what are nine groups of 10. What are nine tens? We can start at zero and count in tens nine times. One times 10 is 10, two tens are 20, three tens are 30, four times 10 is 40. Can you see a pattern in these numbers? Perhaps, you can predict what the answer is going to be when we get to nine times 10. Five tens are 50, six tens are 60, seven times 10 is 70, eight times 10 is 80, and nine tens are 90.

We’ve added 10 nine times. We’ve made nine groups of 10. Nine times 10 equals 90.
