What number is equal to 8275 plus 82?

One way we could find the answer is to partition 82 into 80 and two and to add the two parts separately. 8275 plus two equals 8277. And now, we just need to add 80. 80 is made up of 30 and 50. If we add the 30 part first, that will take us to 8307. And then, if we add the 50 parts, we have a total of 8357.

Another way we could find the same answer is to think of adding 82 as adding 100 and then taking away 18 because 82 is 18 less than 100. Let’s try this method. 8275 plus 100 equals 8375. Now, we just need to subtract 18. We can do this by taking away 20 and then adding two. 8375 take away 20 would be 8355. And then if we add two, we get our answer of 8357. We found the answer by adding two and then 80. And then, as another method, we tried adding 100 and taking away 18, which is the same as adding 82.

And so 8357 is equal to 8275 plus 82.
