Write these bank balances in order, starting with the lowest bank balance.

Well, in order to answer this question, we’re gonna try and find the lowest bank balance first, remembering that actually the lowest bank balance is going to be the biggest negative number. So in this case, it’s negative 450 pounds.

The next smallest balance or the next lowest balance is gonna be negative 60 pounds, because again that’s the next biggest negative number. So it’s a negative sign and then 60. The third lowest bank balance is going to be negative two pounds, and that’s because this is the last of our negative numbers.

Now to help demonstrate this, what I’ve drawn is a number line. So we’ve actually just drawn on there the negative numbers. So we’ve got zero in the middle. Then to the left of the zero is our negatives. And as you can see, negative two will just be a bit less than zero, negative 60 is more less than zero, and negative 450 is even more less than zero. So that’s why these are our smallest three balances or the lowest three balances.

Our next balance is going to be 25 pounds or positive 25 pounds. Then next, we’re gonna get 99 pounds, because this is bigger than 25 pounds but less than the final value, which is 1900 pounds. And then, finally, our largest balance is, as we said, 1900 pounds.

So therefore, we can say that the bank balances in order starting with the lowest bank balance are negative 450 pounds, negative 60 pounds, negative two pounds, 25 pounds, 99 pounds, and 1900 pounds.
