Complete the missing values in the figure below from the left to the right.

We’re given a series of four values. The first value is number eight. And we have to work out the next three values. To find the second value, we have to start at number eight and subtract five. So let’s start at number eight and count back five on our number line. One, two, three, four, five. Eight take away five is three.

To find the next value, we need to take away one from three. Three take away one is two. And to find the last of our missing values, we need to take away one from number two. Two take away one is one. So the missing values are three, two, and one.

We started at eight subtracted five. That took us to three. To find the second missing value, we took away one, which gave us two. And two take away one is one. The missing values are three, two, and one.
