Each pair of cards has a total of 70. Write numbers to complete the pairs. One is done for you: 50 plus 20, 10 plus what, what plus 30.

We know that 50 and 20 makes 70. Five tens and two tens is 70. What do we need to add to 10 to make 70? We already have 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70. One ten and six more tens makes 70. Six tens are 60. So 50 and 20 make 70. 10 and 60 make 70. What do we add to 30? Well, we know that three plus four is seven. So 30 plus 40 must equal 70. 50 and 20, 10 and 60, 40 and 30 are all pairs which total 70. The first missing number is 60, and the second missing number is 40.
