Which of these is one-quarter?

We want to turn the phrase “one-quarter” into a written form of a fraction. The first word o-n-e spells “one.” We know that the numerator of our fraction is going to be one. But quarter isn’t a number.

Let’s think about something. Think about a dollar. How many quarters are in a dollar? There are four quarters in a dollar. Quarters are fourths. That means that one-quarter of something is one out of four, one-fourth.
