In the figure below, find the ratio between segment 𝐴𝐡 and segment 𝐢𝐷 in its simplest form.

When writing a ratio, it’s very important to pay particularly close to the order. It said between 𝐴𝐡 and 𝐢𝐷, so we go 𝐴𝐡 to 𝐢𝐷. 𝐴𝐡 has a length of 33 centimetres. 𝐢𝐷 has a length of 22 centimetres.

Now this is indeed a ratio. However, it should be in its simplest form, so we need to reduce it if it’s possible. And there is indeed a number that goes into 33 and 22. That would be 11. 33 divided by 11 is three, and 22 divided by 11 is two. So the ratio between 𝐴𝐡 and 𝐢𝐷 in its simplest form would be three to two.
