Daniel says that 102 is equal to 120. Is this true or false?

We can use a place value chart to help us compare the value of each number. 102 is one hundred, no tens, and two ones. 120 has one hundred, two tens, and no ones.

To compare the sizes of these numbers, we could look at the hundreds digit. Both of these numbers have one hundred. So that doesn’t help. 102 has no tens. 120 has two tens.

This means that 120 is greater than 102. Daniel says that these numbers are equal. This is false.
