need to change this hexagon into an octagon?
We know that Matthew has made a
hexagon using his sticks. And the question is asking us how
many more sticks will he need to make an octagon. This question is asking us to think
about how many sides a hexagon has and how many sides an octagon has. Hexagons, including Matthew’s
hexagon, have six sides. An octagon has eight sides. What’s the difference between eight
and six? The answer is two. Eight subtract six is two. Matthew will need two more sticks
to change his hexagon into an octagon.
