Would it be faster to fill a sink with a quart container or a cup container?

I want you to imagine that you’re trying to fill a sink, and you could use a spoon or a bucket. Which would help you fill a sink faster, a spoon or a bucket? You would choose the bucket because it’s larger.

We need to think in the same way when we compare a quart container to a cup container. So which is larger, a quart container or a cup container? Inside a gallon, there are four quarts. And inside every quart, there are two pints. And inside every pint, there are two cups.

Let’s look closely at just one quart. Inside one quart, there are two pints. Inside one pint, there are two cups. This picture tells us that one quart must be bigger than a cup because four cups fit inside one quart.

Since we know that a quart container is bigger than a cup container, we can also say that our quart container will fill a sink faster than a cup container. A quart container will fill a sink faster than a cup container.
