We can use pictures to help us add
three and five together. The first picture shows the number
three. There are three tennis balls. The second picture shows the number
five. There are five baseballs. So what is three and five
altogether? We start with three tennis balls
and we add five baseballs.
Here are our three tennis
balls. Let’s draw five baseballs: one,
two, three, four, and five, five baseballs. Let’s find the total. We already know there are three
tennis balls. So let’s count on from three:
three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Which of the answers at the bottom
shows eight? This one does.
