Liam wants to know the most popular age at which to ride on a popular roller coaster in a theme park. Should he calculate the mean, median, or modal age of the riders?

The mean, median, and mode are measures of central tendency or average. To calculate the mean of a data set, we divide the sum of the values by how many values there are. The median is the middle value when our numbers are in ascending or descending order. The mode is the most common or most frequently occurring result. As Liam wants to know the most popular age, he should calculate the modal age of the riders.
