Determine whether the following statement is true or false. In π‘š plus 39, the variable π‘š can have any value.

So, we’re talking about having π‘š plus 39. But in fact, this could be any letter. So, it could have 𝑏 plus 39 because the letter just refers to a variable and that variable can take any value whatsoever. So, we could have any value for our π‘š or whatever letter we chose to put there. So therefore, we’ve got the answer to the question cause we can say that the variable π‘š can have any value. So, the answer is true.

Well, it’s worth noting that the reason that it can take any value is because it’s an expression. However, if we use this expression to form an equation such as π‘š plus 39 equals 41, then to satisfy this equation, our π‘š must take one value. And in this case, that value must be two. You can’t have equations where it has more than one value. However, when we’ve got an equation, there would definitely be some specific values that it would have to take.
