Determine the unit rate for a group of 990 people who went to the park between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 AM.

Between 9:00 and 11:00 AM, there is a time period of two hours. This means that 990 people visited the park in two hours. As we want the unit rate, we want the number of people per hour or in one hour. Two divided by two is equal to one. This means we need to divide 990 by two.

One way of doing this is using the short division bus stop method, giving us 495. This means that 495 people, on average, went to the park in one hour.

The unit rate is therefore 495 people per hour.
