So the first thing that we need to do is we need to find what π‘₯ is equal to. So we will take our equation, eight π‘₯ minus nine equals twenty-three, and we will solve for π‘₯. So in order to solve for π‘₯, we first need to get rid of the minus nine.

The opposite of subtracting nine would be to add nine. That’s how we will get rid of the minus nine. So we need to add nine to both sides of the equation.

On the left-hand side of the equation, the nine is cancelled. And on the right-hand side of the equation, twenty-three plus nine is equal to thirty-two. So now in order to isolate π‘₯ to get it by itself, eight is being multiplied to π‘₯. So to get rid of eight, we must divide by eight. We have to do that to both sides of the equation.

The eight is cancelled on the left-hand side of the equation. And on the right-hand side of the equation, thirty-two divided by eight is equal to four, so π‘₯ is equal to four.

Now it wants us to find the value of π‘₯ divided by two. So let’s replace π‘₯ with four. And four divided by two is equal to two, so the value of π‘₯ over two or π‘₯ divided by two is equal to two.
