What is the probability that the pointer lands on a red section when the given fair spinner is spun?

Because we know that this is a fair spinner, there is an equal chance that the spinner will land on any of the options. But we’re looking for the probability that a red section is selected. The probability that we will choose red will be equal to the number of ways that red can be selected over all possible outcomes.

On this spinner, there are three different ways we could choose red. So our numerator is three. And this spinner is broken up into eight even pieces, which means there are eight total possible outcomes. And the probability that red will be selected is three-eighths.
