Here, we have two different numbers. 17 is a two-digit number and six is a one-digit number. The number 17 has one ten and seven ones. And we have to take away six of those ones: one, two, three, four, five, six. Now, we’re left with one ten and one one. 10 plus one is 11.

So, 17 take away six equals 11.
