Three tens and seven units are added. What is the result in numbers and words?

We can start by getting our three tens together. Here are three sets of tens. Each of these yellow stacks have 10 units in it. We also have seven units. The seven pink blocks represent the seven units. If we add up our three blocks of 10, that means 10 plus 10 plus 10. Three tens is equal to 30.

Our seven pink blocks or seven units are equal to seven. 30 plus seven equals 37. 37, three seven, is the result in numbers. How do we write 37 in words? The word “thirty” is spelled t-h-i-r-t-y. And the word “seven” is spelled s-e-v-e-n. To write 37, we write the word “thirty” and then a dash and then the word “seven.”
