Circle the improper fraction that is equivalent to six and seven-eighths. Sixty-seven eighths, forty-eight eighths, sixty-two eighths, fifty-five eighths, seventy-six eighths.

We know that eight-eighths is equivalent to one whole. So we know that six wholes is equivalent to forty-eight eighths because six multiplied by eight is 48. So six wholes or forty-eight eighths plus seven-eighths equals fifty-five eighths.

The improper fraction that is equivalent to six and seven-eighths is fifty-five eighths.

We realise that one whole is equivalent to eight-eighths. We worked out that six wholes is equivalent to forty-eight eighths because six multiplied by eight is 48. Then, we added the seven-eighths to give us our answer fifty-five eighths.
