The line plot shows the heights of a number of students. Is it true that none of the students are 49 inches tall?
So what do we know? We know that this graph is about students and their height.
We know that their height is measured in inches and that each 𝑥 represents a student. Let’s look closely at students that are or are not 49 inches tall.
We look at the heights. And we see that there is a category for 49 inches. And it has four 𝑥s on top. This tells us that four students are 49 inches tall.
Our question asks is it true that none of the students are 49 inches tall. Because we know that four students are 49 inches tall, we can say, “No, it is not true that none of the students are 49 inches tall.”
