Evaluate 256 to the one-fourth power.

256 to the one-fourth power is taking the fourth root of 256. The fourth root of 256 is saying what number to the fourth power, what number multiplied by itself four times, is equal to 256. Here we’ll use a calculator. And I’ll actually enter 256, and then for the exponent value I’ll put one over four. And that tells me that it equals four. Four to the fourth power equals 256. And that means 256 to the one-fourth power equals four.
