Benjamin and Natalie were asked to make a quarter turn clockwise. Who did it correctly?

This is Benjamin. And this is Natalie. They were both asked to make a quarter turn clockwise. We have to work out who did it correctly. Let’s think about what a quarter turn clockwise looks like. We can imagine that this circle is the face of a clock. And the arrow shows the direction that Benjamin and Natalie were facing to begin with. If they make a quarter turn clockwise, the green arrow shows the direction that they should be facing.

Let’s take a closer look at Natalie. She started facing 12 o’clock if we imagine that the circle is the face of a clock. Now, Natalie is facing in a different direction. This is her starting position. And this is where she ended up. So she’s made a quarter turn, a quarter turn counterclockwise.

Let’s see how Benjamin turned. He started facing forwards or 12 o’clock, just like Natalie did. And then, Benjamin made a quarter turn in a clockwise direction. So both of the children made a quarter turn. Natalie turned in a counterclockwise direction. And Benjamin turned in a clockwise direction.

So the person who correctly made a quarter turn clockwise is Benjamin.
