Emma makes a cuboid using 12 cubes. Write the letter of the cuboid that has a different volume from Emma’s cuboid.

Let’s count how many cubes we used to make cuboid A. Two, four, six, eight, 10, 12. Cuboid B is the same as cuboid A except instead of standing upright, it’s laid flat. So cuboid B is also made from 12 cubes.

Let’s count how many cubes we used to make cuboid C. This top layer of cuboid C is made from nine cubes. So the bottom layer also has nine cubes. Double nine is 18. So cuboid C has a different volume from Emma’s cuboid.

Cuboid D is made from 12 cubes. This is the same cuboid as Emma’s cuboid, but it’s laid flat on its side. Cuboid E is also made from 12 cubes. Two, four, six, eight, 10, 12. Cuboid C has a volume of 18 cubes. All the other cuboids have volumes of 12.
