1440 divided by 12 equals what?

You may have spotted that if we ignore the zero, 144 is a multiple of 12. 12 multiplied by 12 is 144. 1440 is 10 times bigger than 144. So we can multiply 12 by 10 to give us 120, which tells us that 120 multiplied by 12 equals 1440. So 1440 divided by 12 equals 120.

To calculate the answer, we used a known fact that 12 times 12 is 144. This helped us to work out that 120 times 12 is 1440. So 1440 divided by 12 is 120.
