Count the balls. Draw a basket for each ball.

First, we have to count the basketballs. We could place a counter down each time we count a ball. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Now, we need to find a basket for each ball. So, we’re looking for the picture that shows seven baskets. We can use the seven counters to help us. We can now place a counter on each of the baskets. One, two, three, four, five, six.

There are only six baskets in the first picture, but we have seven balls. And we still have one counter left over. Let’s see if the second picture has seven baskets for our seven balls. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Each basket has a ball. This is the picture which shows seven baskets. There are seven basketballs and seven baskets.
