This graph shows the temperature in six cities on one day in January. Which city was four degrees warmer than Kiev? What was the difference between the temperature in Oslo and the temperature in Berlin?

The first part of the question asks us to find the city which was four degrees warmer than Kiev. The temperature in Kiev was minus two degrees Celsius. We can see that the temperature scale goes up in twos. So if we count up twice, that means we’ve counted up four degrees. So the temperature which is four degrees warmer than minus two is two. This city’s temperature is two degrees Celsius and this city is Paris. The city which was four degrees warmer than Kiev is Paris.

The second part of the question asks us to find the difference between the temperatures in Oslo and Berlin. The temperature in Oslo is minus eight degrees Celsius and the temperature in Berlin is minus five degrees Celsius, which is halfway between minus four and minus six. And the difference between these two temperatures is three degrees Celsius.

The city which is four degrees warmer than Kiev is Paris. And the difference in temperature between Oslo and Berlin is three degrees Celsius.
