Video Transcript

Write the set of integers between, but not including, negative one and four.

An integer is a positive or negative whole number. Let’s consider a number line going from negative three to five. We need to find the set of integers that are between negative one and four. As we’re not including these end points, we want all the numbers that are between negative one and four. There are four whole numbers between negative one and four. They are zero, one, two, and three. This means that the set of integers between, but not including, negative one and four is zero, one, two, and three. Note that we use curly brackets or parentheses for our set notation.
