What property of multiplication is
used in the sum eight times zero equals zero?
In this example, we’re finding the
product of the number eight and zero. Eight is a rational number. And we see that the product of this
rational number and zero is zero. This has a special name. Because we’re finding the product
of a rational number and zero, we call this the zero product property. And so, this is the property of
multiplication used in this problem. And it says that the product of any
rational number and the number zero is zero.
