Look at this picture. Which shape is below the shape with four faces that are triangles?
Where asked to look at the picture. And this picture shows us some 3D shapes. There’s a cone, a sphere, a pyramid, a cube, and this one is called a cylinder. We’re looking for the shape which is below the shape which has four triangular faces.
First, we need to find the shape that has four faces which are triangles. Remember, a face is a flat surface of a 3D shape. We’re looking for faces which are triangles. And our shape must have four of these triangular faces. We might think that a cone has triangular faces. If we were to imagine that our cone was made from card or paper, and we folded it flat, this is what the cone would look like. The cone doesn’t have any triangular faces.
The cube has square faces. And the sphere doesn’t have any flat surfaces. It’s round like a ball. What about the pyramid? Does it have four triangular faces? There’s one, two. There’s another one here, which makes three. And the base of this pyramid is also a triangle. So, this is the shape with four triangular faces. Which shape is below the triangular pyramid? It’s this shape, the cylinder. The shape which is below the shape with four faces that are triangles is the cylinder.
