What part of a human cell are
chromosomes found inside?
The majority of the genetic
material in humans is found as chromosomes, highly compacted structures made of
coiled DNA. So, where do we find chromosomes in
a human cell? To find out, let’s take a closer
look at this typical eukaryotic animal cell. Animals, like humans, are built up
of many specialized cells.
Generally, an animal cell is
enclosed by cell membrane filled with a fluid called cytoplasm and contains a
variety of membrane-bound organelles, which perform specific functions in the
cell. One of these membrane-bound
organelles is the nucleus. It stores the majority of the
genetic information of an animal in the form of chromosomes. So now, we know that the
chromosomes are found inside the nucleus.
