How many twos are there in 282?

We can represent the question how many twos are there in 282 by using division. Dividing 282 by two will tell us how many groups of two there are in 282.

When we do long division, we start in the box all the way on the left. And we ask the question, how many times will two go into two? Two will go into two one time. We multiply one times two and place that number in our division box. And then we subtract. Two minus two equals zero.

We bring down the next digit. And then we ask the question, how many times will two go into eight? Eight divided by two is four. Two will go into eight four times. We multiply four times two, which equals eight. Then we do subtraction again. Eight minus eight equals zero.

We bring down our last digit, which is a two. And we ask the question again. How many times does two go into two? And the answer is one. By taking 282 and dividing it by two, we’re able to see how many twos there are in 282. There are 141 groups of two in the number 282.
