Ocean water has a pH of eight. Is it acidic, basic, or
neutral?
pH is a measure of acidity. Typically, the range of pH values
for solutions is zero to 14. Seven sits in the middle. The pH of water at 25 degrees
Celsius, pH seven, is considered neutral. A solution with a pH less than
seven is acidic. And a solution with a pH greater
than seven is basic. The question tells us that the pH
of ocean water is eight, which is greater than seven. Therefore, ocean water is
basic.
