We don’t know the first number in the pattern. The next number is eight and then seven. Seven is one less than eight. So this means we’re taking away one each time. To find the first missing number, we need to add one to number eight, which is nine. Now we know the pattern starts with number nine, nine, eight, seven, six. The second missing number is six.
