Which of these is a square?

We’re shown three different 2D shapes. And we have to decide which one is a square. Let’s think about what we know about squares. A square is a 2D shape which has four equal sides. Which of our three shapes is a square? It can’t be this shape in the middle. This shape has three sides, which means it’s a triangle.

Both of the other two shapes have four sides. So which one is the square? The first shape is a square because it has four equal sides. The other of our shapes with four sides is a rectangle. This is the shape which is a square.
